BaZi Compatibility

BaZi compatibility starts with two Day Masters — yours and theirs — and the five classical combinations (干合) that bond specific pairs of stems: 甲己, 乙庚, 丙辛, 丁壬, 戊癸. Each combination page below reads one bond from both sides, in plain language. Below the pages, a full table shows what every Day Master meets in every other. And one honest note before you scroll: a day-master pairing is the headline of compatibility, never the whole article — the full charts decide the rest. New to the system? How to read the table

The Combine column is the 干合 partner — the stem with the classical bond, each one a combination page above. The other four columns are the standard relations every Day Master has to the world: Resource nourishes you (the people and studies that feed you), Output is what you express, Officer is what tests and structures you, and Wealth is what you steward. In a relationship, partners whose stems land in different columns for each other experience structurally different bonds — and the classics read the whole map, not one cell.

Questions people ask

How does BaZi actually read compatibility?

By comparing two charts — beginning with the two Day Masters and their relation (combination, generation, mutual test), then weighing the other pillars, the elements each chart needs, and both luck cycles. A day-master pairing is the headline; the full charts are the article.

Is 相性 the same as sun-sign compatibility?

No. Sun signs compare one solar month; BaZi compares sixteen characters computed from both birth moments plus their interactions. That is why classical readers are cautious about single-rule matchmaking — there is simply more chart to read than one pairing.

What are the five combinations (干合)?

The five classical stem bonds: 甲己合, 乙庚合, 丙辛合, 丁壬合, 戊癸合 — each pairing one yang stem with one yin stem of a controlling pair. The classics read them as marriage-type unions, and the five pages above explain why, one pairing at a time.
